Oh my… it’s been almost three weeks since I posted last. Time just seems to fly by.

Summer has finally come – can you believe it? We had terrible thunderstorms and the basement of a good friend of us got flooded twice. There were hailstorms and gallons of water coming down, but for a couple of days the weather is finally better. The kids spent basically the whole weekend in the wading pool and keep eating strawberries and ice-cream.

But as much as I’d like to sit back and do nothing, I was busily working on the release of Chimaira, my latest design.

Chimaira

Chimaira is a wonderfully light shawl that makes clever use of short rows to create an asymmetrical and eye-catching colorplay. The shawl is worked outwards from the center of the top edge, with increases at the beginning and end of each row as well as around the off-centered spine.

The amazingly silky and soft Wisp by Dream in Color adds beautiful drape and subtle sheen to Chimaira, making it a wonderful choice for knitting up this piece.

Yardage requirements are:

• 1 skein Dream in Color Wisp, colorway “Gold Experience” (35g used for sample)
• 1 skein Dream in Color Wisp, colorway “Tea Party” (29g used for sample)
• 1 skein Dream in Color Wisp, colorway “Tokyo Cream” (7g used for sample)

On purchase of the pattern you’ll find page 1 and 2 in your Ravelry library right now (please make sure you’re logged in to your Ravelry account!), including all information you need concerning yardage, gauge, needles and size so you can start swatching right away. On 18th of July the pattern will go live and everyone who bought it early on will find an update with the entire pattern in her Ravelry library.

There’s also a KAL for Chimaira in my Ravelry group – if you want to cast on, why don’t you join us there? The KAL will officially start on the 18th of July, this being the day on which the pattern goes live.

For giving everyone who joins the KAL a chance to find out about Wisp, Jessica at Dream in Color was so kind to gift a skein of Wisp in Velvet Port. An awesome color, and I’ll draw a winner among everyone who finished her Chimaira by 1st of October 2013. (And yes, I will ship it worldwide.)

All the details are in the thread, so please make sure to drop by.

Chimaira

(I just have to show another close-up. Can you get an idea of the wonderful drape of this piece? It flatters and it is so amazingly airy – just the right thing for summer days like these.)

I’m very excited to see a lot of Chimairas in wonderful color combinations!

If you need inspiration, have a look at the Ravelry project list, there are some wonderful variations.
